Questions about recognitions and certificate supplements

IMPORTANT: The deadline of two semesters from the start of the degree programme previously stipulated in § 78 para. 4 no. 2 UG, within which applications for recognition of examinations from previous degree programmes had to be submitted, was abolished by the last amendment to the UG. Since 1 May 2024, students are therefore once again entitled to apply for recognition of examinations from previous studies without any time restrictions. Students whose applications for recognition were rejected because they missed the deadline have the opportunity to resubmit their application for recognition with immediate effect.

The application

  • The application has to be submitted via UNIGRAZonline (business cards UNIGRAZonline - Recognition/Certificate Supplement - New Recognition). Please note that recognitions and certificate supplements are two different applications that are not linked to each other.
  • After successful entry, a printout of the attachment (= recognition printout list) must be submitted to the Dean's Office. Please enclose the LV certificates with the application in case of recognition of examinations from other educational institutions.
  • If you have any questions regarding the content of the recognition, please contact the chairperson of the Curricula Commission GLOBAL STUDIES.
  • For questions regarding the submission of an application, please contact Mrs. Nina Kaufmann.
  • For questions regarding assignments of achievements in UNIGRAZonline, please find a video tutorial here.

  • After you have submitted the application for recognition to the Dean's Office, the application will be checked and recorded.
  • Afterwards, the decision, which the students receive, is submitted to the CuKo chairperson for signature.

Up to a maximum of 2 months from the date of receipt of the application in the URBI Examination Department.

After the notice has been signed by the CuKo chairman, it will be sent to you by e-mail (without exception to the e-mail address provided by the University of Graz).

Why do you need a certificate supplement?

This is used for the subsequent recording of course certificates of the Karl-Franzens-University Graz, which do not appear in your examination results or on the Transcript of Records.

Woman with question mark

takes place via your business card inUNIGRAZonline (Recognitions/Certificate Supplement). Please note that Recognitions and Certificate Supplement are two different applications that are not linked. Click on "New Certificate" and follow the prompts.

In order for your submission to be confirmed, please bring the original transcript to the Dean's Office in the School of Environmental, Regional, and Educational Sciences.

Upon submission of the original certificate to the Dean's Office, the entry will be confirmed within the next 2 to 3 business days.

After the transcript of records has been submitted, the exam will not appear under your exam results but on the transcript of records, which means that you will not be able to print out a certificate for this exam.

A subsequent amendment of a notice is NOT possible. Further information on this can be found in the instructions on appealing your decision. Therefore, before submitting your application for recognition, please consider very carefully whether you actually want or need the recognition.
