Helpful information for admission and the start of studies

General information on admission

The Master's program GLOBAL STUDIES is a regular program of the Karl-Franzens-University Graz. Admissions are handled centrally by the Rectorate (Department of Studies). The prerequisite for admission is generally a completed study program with at least 180 ECTS.

According to the respective Master's degree program applied for (Economy and Environment or/Society and Culture/or Law and Politics), it will be examined whether admission is possible on the basis of the completed previous studies (or, if applicable, further subject-relevant study achievements).

Overall: If more than 120 ECTS are attributable to one of the subjects of Global Studies, admission is granted without further requirements. If 90 to 119 ECTS correspond to the subjects of Global Studies, a maximum of 30 ECTS supplementary examinations can be required, which are determined in individual cases and can be taken during the entire period of study. If only a maximum of 90 ECTS can be attributed to one of the subjects of Global Studies, no admission is granted.

Exception: If at least 75 ECTS are available from a study program that is required for admission, additional ECTS from all courses completed at domestic and foreign tertiary educational institutions (also from studies that have not been completed) can be credited.

  1. Submit an application for admission to the master's program to the Office of Student Affairs (https://studienabteilung.uni-graz.at/de/studieren/einschreibung-zulassung/masterstudium/). Based on the documents you have submitted, the fulfillment of the study requirements will be examined individually.
  2. After completion of the examination, you will receive a decision, which provides information about admission and any required conditions.
  3. If the decision is positive, you can enroll in the program - also at the Admissions Office.

Curriculum Support

The app "My studies (Curriculum Support)" in UNIGRAZonline gives you an overview of your studies, your courses and your study progress. You must continuously assign your completed achievements in the app itself. We will support you with instructions.

If you want to cancel an elective option or rebook a performance, please contact urbi.anerkennung(at)uni-graz.at.
