Everything you need to know about compulsory practice

The integrated, compulsory internship is recommended to be completed in the 3rd semester. We recommend the completion of the basic modules A and B before starting the internship. The internship can be completed in Austria and abroad, preferably at state-authorized and recognized institutions, at relevant NGOs and international organizations, and must be applied for in advance.

The amount of the remuneration is subject to individual agreement between the student and the organization. Students are responsible for taking out their own insurance for the duration of the internship.

Independent organization of the internship

Students are responsible for organizing their own internships; the university is not obligated to organize internships. Nevertheless, we try to find suitable organizations as cooperation partners in order to make the search easier for the students. The cooperation partners are published here on the homepage and must be contacted by the students themselves. There is no legal claim to the receipt of internships.

Internships and grant for unpaid internships abroad

It is important to note that planning internships abroad often requires a longer lead time of 3 to 6 months. There are often deadlines for the application. The preparation time varies among the organizations and often a preparation or follow-up is mandatory. It should also be taken into account that such internships also incur costs (application fees, processing fees, travel costs, accommodation costs), which students must bear themselves. Recognition of similar activities

Credit or recognition of similar activities from other studies is not possible.

Entry of ECTS credits in UGO

The registration of the ECTS credits takes place after submission of the confirmation for the completed practice in the coordination office.

Which documents must be submitted to the Coordination Office for Global Studies?

Application via online form - must be approved in advance
a detailed, 1-2-page job description confirmed by the future employer (it should be clear in what way you can apply and test the knowledge you have learned in your studies!).
Letter of motivation (NOT a letter of application, signed by applicant)
